Let’s cook! printable

Let's Cook! Printable

I put together a printable to help guide the boys through the cooking process. The printable has the following steps, plus a column on the right to list ingredients.

  1. Pick a recipe.
How many people can be served?
How much of this recipe do we have to make?
  2. Make a list of the ingredients.
Cross out what we already have at home.
What do we need to buy from the store?
  3. Go shopping.
How much money did you spend?
  4. Read the recipe’s instructions.
  5. Prepare things that need to be done ahead of time.
  6. Finish making the recipe.
  7. Any tricks or things you want to remember about this recipe?

Baseball game activity book printable

. Baseball game activity book

Steve took Steven to his first San Francisco Giants game this year (technically his second, but he was an itty bitty baby when he went the first time!). I put together an activity book to help keep him occupied. His was SF Giants-specific, but I made a more generic version — with an extra page for slightly older kids — to share for free.

What’s included:

This five page printable makes a 16 page quarter-sheet sized booklet (not including the cover).

pages

  • Page 1: Scorecard page, How much do things cost, word search
  • Page 2: Match pictures to words (bring a glue stick!), draw a picture, number the positions, handwriting
  • Page 3: Unscramble words, write players’ numbers and names, add up scores
  • Page 4: Write players’ numbers and names, game information writing sheet, baseball jokes, essay or picture page
  • Page 5: Cut-outs, cover

Booklet instructions

1. Print the pages double-sided. Pages 1 and 2 are appropriate for kindergarten level. Pages 3 and 4 would be appropriate for a slightly more advanced reader/writer. Page 5 is the cover and cutout page, so it will not have a back.

Front side

Back side

2. Cut the pages in half.

Cut

3. Stack the pages. The cover should be at the bottom, face down. The scorecard should be at the top, face up. The order of the other pages doesn’t really matter.

Stack

4. Fold the booklet in half. From the remaining half sheet, cut out the cut-outs.

Fold, staple. Cut.

5. Put the book and cut-outs in an envelope. Be sure to bring a glue stick, pencil, and markers or crayons!

Hh – horse (and Halloween) printable pack

Hh Printable Pack

Most of the items in this printable pack are horse-themed, but there are two color-by-letter sheets that feature a jack-o’-lantern (one easier, one harder) as a nod to Halloween coming up next week.

Also, for the first time, I have a “find the letters hidden in the picture” sheet. Man, those are kind of hard to do! I have a lot more respect for illustrators who made hidden pictures – and mine isn’t even that detailed!

Here is what’s included:

  • Colored picture – use as puzzle or decoration
  • Letter outline (for playdough mats, tracing, rainbow writing, gluing, etc.)
  • Coloring/handwriting page
  • Find hidden letters illustration
  • Counting page
  • Line tracing
  • Color by letter (easier)
  • Color by letter (harder)
  • Puzzle/matching cards
  • Word cards (find the words that start with the letter)

ABC Memory Verses

ABC Memory Verses

To go along with the letter of the week, we have a memory verse that the boys work on each week. I’ve been printing out the verses, drawing a picture to go with it (the boys INSISTED that I draw a picture on the week that I didn’t feel like it), slipping it into a plastic cover, and hanging it on our calendar board.

IMG_1222

On Monday, the boys repeat the verse after Steve explains the meaning of it. Sometimes Steve comes up with fun activities to go with the verse – for example, he had the boys try to jump across a large gap to demonstrate “falling short” on week one.

On Tuesday, they say the verse again, but come up with their own hand motions to go with the verse. Week one went like this:

  • All (gesturing with arms)
  • have sinned (pointing both hands thumbs-down)
  • and fall short (jump)
  • of the glory of God (pointing hands up to the sky).
  • Romans 3:23 (using fingers to show 3, 2, 3)

This technique works really well for both boys. Steven (5) has learned all the verses so far word for word, and even Matthew (3) has several of them memorized.

Although he did say “glorious God” instead of “glory of God” for quite a while!

Steven also gets a handwriting worksheet at some point that week that has all or part of the Bible verse.

Most of the verses are drawn from the Sonlight Core A curriculum, but they don’t follow it completely. I included different verses for hard/soft consonants and short/long vowels, and sometimes I wanted to go more with a different Bible version.

Here’s what’s included:

  • A blank handwriting sheet (for older children)
  • Verse printout for each verse (you’ll have to draw your own pictures!)
  • Guided letter handwriting sheet for each verse
  • Dotted letter handwriting sheet for each verse

These are the verses:

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Luke 11:9

A gentle answer turns away wrath. Proverbs 15:1

Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved – you and your household. Acts 16:31

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10

Do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 7:12

Encourage each other and build each other up. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. Isaiah 43:1

Let your gentleness be evident to all. Philippians 4:5

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Deuteronomy 6:4

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. Psalm 34:13

Look to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. Isaiah 45:22

My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Matthew 6:24

Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 1 Peter 4:9

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Psalm 8:9

Perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18

Starting a quarrel is like breaking a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out. Proverbs 17:14

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God. Exodus 20:8-10

Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Psalm 127:1

Whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:17

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:7-8

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. Psalm 27:14

Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the LORD our God is holy. Psalm 99:9

You are the light of the world… Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14, 16

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Romans 12:11
